The Black Camp

By Lou Cameron

"THESE ARE THE FACTS OF LIFE, SOLDIER. IN THIS WAR YOU NEVER TRUST NOBODY. NOT EVEN YOUR MOTHER.

They were some of the toughest (and some of the most screwed up) GIs in the war. First Sergeant Flint told them: "You're just bums who can't make it anyplace else."

But maybe they could, if Flint were out of the picture. The whole merciless, sadistic setup would fall apart if it weren't for Flint covering up for an insane lieutenant, a drunken captain and a torture happy buck sergeant; if it weren't for Flint lying and conniving to keep the Brass ignorant of what was going on.

The only answer was a dirty one, but it kept coming back to the GIs in the Black Camp. Killing the enemy was rough enough, but murdering one of your own men . . .
